27th September 2025 10.15 am - Evolution of flowering plants. Expert talk with Maria Golightly
10.15am 27th September 2025 at the National Park Visitor Centre. Talk time 50 minutes
Maria Golightly fydd yn ein tywys ar hyd taith planhigion sy’n blodeuo o’r cyfnod Jwrasig hyd heddiw, ac yn egluro wrthym na fyddai dynol ryw wedi gallu bodoli hebddynt.
Cafodd Maria ei magu wedi ei hamgylchynu gan y byd naturiol a dyma oedd cychwyn ei diddordeb mewn blodau. Yn y gorffennol gweithiodd i Erddi Botaneg Brenhinol Kew ar y cynllun Grow Wild, a oedd yn canolbwyntio ar flodau gwyllt brodorol. Erbyn hyn, hi sy’n arwain y Bartneriaeth Natur Leol o fewn y Parc Cenedlaethol lle mae hi’n parhau i weithio gyda’i phlanhigion annwyl.
Maria Golightly will be our guide to the unfolding story of flowering plants from the Jurassic to the present day and how without them, humans wouldn’t have existed.
Maria grew up surrounded by the natural world which started her fascination with flowers. She previously worked for the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew on the Grow Wild Programme focused on native wildflowers. She now leads on the Local Nature Partnership within the National Park where she continues to work with her beloved plants.
